40Ar / 39Ar - Argon GeochronologyContact Marnie.Forster@anu.edu.au Tel: +61 2 6125 3412 ![]() The ANU Geochronology laboratory staff perform 40Ar / 39Ar, dating studies for research purposes. We specialise in 40Ar/39Ar furnace step heating and/or laser fusion of a variety of rocks and minerals, including amphiboles, micas, feldspars. We also work with whole-rock materials, typically extrusive volcanic rocks if a project necessitates it. We undertake multi-domain experiments on K-feldspars, providing a thermal history in complex metamorphic terranes. We also have an optical microscopy laboratory with a variety of fine instruments. Access to rock crushing and mineral separation facilities are close by. |
